Jefferson Pierce will finally understand that he is tired of hiding his superhero identity in the shadows, and the residents of Freeland will welcome the return of Black Lightning with great joy and enthusiasm in season 2. At the same time, Tobias Whale, of course, will not be afraid of the “clown in costume” and will throw all his strength into remaining the owner of these streets, putting his enemy at the lightning rod. Meanwhile, Peter Gambi is working on a new mystery machine, and Jennifer, is still firmly convinced that she does not need the superpowers she had discovered in the season 1. Moreover, Gambi and Pierce would set about resolving the contradictions that had arisen between them in the new episodes, Jennifer would behave like a typical emotionally unstable teenager, and victims of experiments would get an interesting development of their storyline.

Jefferson Pierce and his family may have survived Tobias’s attack, but they’re not out of the woods yet. Concerned for the safety of Garfield’s students, the board considers a motion to shut down the school. Jennifer struggles with her powers and her actions have unforeseen repercussions. Meanwhile, Anissa finds a new way to give back to Freeland.
Jefferson must break the news to his students and faculty that he is stepping down. Struggling with his new life as Painkiller, Khalil pays a visit to Jennifer in hopes of mending things. Meanwhile, Tobias continues to enact his plan.
Jefferson is forced to watch as all his good work is undone before his eyes when his replacement arrives and begins implementing sweeping changes. Meanwhile, Anissa continues to play Robin Hood by stealing from one of the most powerful crime syndicates in Freeland.
Jefferson confronts Anissa about her reckless and irresponsible behavior leading to a fierce disagreement.
Jefferson and Anissa work together investigating the hometown of a creepy man at the clinic and make a shocking discovery. Meanwhile, with Syonide gone, Tobias puts an increasing amount of pressure on Khalil to help fill some of the void left in the organization.
Black Lightning and Thunder return to South Freeland in an attempt to figure out what is going on. When they arrive, they are directed to a nearby wood where they are surrounded by a clan of mixed-race moonshiners called the Perdi. Meanwhile, Lynn, feeling tremendous guilt, falls into a deep depression. Lastly, Tobias finds that his plan is falling apart.
When Black Lightning and Thunder are attacked by Looker and her clan, they fight to get her to release control over the Sange. Meanwhile, Jennifer and Khalil continue to grow closer.
Jennifer's disappearance roils the Pierce family. The family discusses the best way to find her. Lynn asks Detective Henderson to arrest Khalil after she learns Jennifer is with him.
Jennifer separately tries to save a feverish Khalil after their narrow escape. Jefferson, Lynn and Anissa work on tracking down the pair.
Still on the run, Jennifer and Khalil succumb to their feelings for one another and begin planning their future together. Meanwhile, Jefferson approaches Henderson with a favor.
Jefferson suspects that Tobias is behind a recent malicious attack. He brings this news to Henderson but doesn't get the answer he was looking for. Meanwhile, Lynn is confronted by her past.
