Energetic 32-year-old owl sanctuary volunteer Krystal worries that her larger-than-life personality and chattiness scare men off. Her date with fellow animal lover James, who's 43, gets off to a flying start when she gives him a knitted owl, but will things nose dive when she discovers what he does for a living? Beautician and recruitment assistant Georgia, who's 20, is searching for her dream girl: a football-playing Cara Delevingne.
Upmarket flower seller Calum, who's 25, turns up armed with a bouquet, which impresses 27-year-old construction project manager Lucy. But every rose has its thorns and things get a bit prickly when Lucy asks whether the flowers were to compensate for his bad chat. Graphic designer Chris can sometimes prove 'a bit too much' for his dates and is eager to find a woman who he 'can dance around in his pants for'.
Twenty-three-year-old neuroscientist and self-confessed geek Michael is yet to find someone with the right kind of chemistry. His date, 23-year-old publishing assistant Hannah, is hoping her dream man exists outside of her romance novels. It all gets off to a good start, until Michael reveals a dating story that causes a negative reaction. Will this be the Litmus test for love? Meanwhile, 42-year-old mother of two Melissa has been married three times and is hoping to make it fourth time lucky.
Romcom fanatic Becky, who's 36 and is a mother of two, is hoping to meet her very own Hugh Grant. Auditioning for the role is blue-eyed 36-year-old chef, Leigh. As their date kicks off, so does a Manchester United game, which Leigh is keen to get an update on, but when the final whistle blows on their date, will Becky be left wondering if she's scored? 'Glam-ma' Val, who's 78, meets 82-year-old ex-welder Roy.
Recruitment consultant Jack returns for a second first date at the restaurant, this time with hairdresser Shauna. Mark, who's been single for 10 years, meets Claire, who's never had a relationship.
