Meanwhile, Elliot is delighted to be working with his new mentee Zosia, but she proves to be quite a handful when she voluntarily decides to "psyche" a patient's mother - much to Elliot's chagrin. Elsewhere, Sacha feels uneasy about lying to Chrissie about his secret kiss with Mo. He decides to come clean to his wife, but realises that being honest isn't always the best policy.
Harry ends up on the wrong side of Gemma when an old friend turns up on AAU.

Still reeling from Chrissie rejecting his offer to elope, Michael jeopardises his career when faced with a heartbreaking case. Michael goes all out in his attempt to save a father and his teenage son. When her mistake almost costs a patient his life, Gemma is forced to question whether she really belongs at Holby. Elliot is still in hiding after last week's Herzig operation ended badly. Fearing that Guy Self will use this as the perfect excuse to shut down his legacy, Elliot cannot face another patient. Unwilling to tolerate his self-pitying, Jac steps in and forces him to get back into surgery. Mary-Claire is left feeling increasingly isolated by Edward's snide remarks and accusations of incompetence. When a machine malfunctions on the ward, Edward is the first to blame her and questions whether she should be allowed near patients.
Serena and Edward arrive at work loved-up and energised, but when Mary-Claire makes clear she won't forgive Edward's treatment of her and their 'relationship', Edward is forced to confess to the affair. Guy's failure to mend his relationship with Zosia has him finally admit defeat and accept his daughter's wish of keeping it purely professional. There's a new registrar on AAU and he's determined to revolutionise the ward. When a patient arrives in a critical condition and the hospital lacks a vital piece of equipment necessary to save him, this wayward hero decides to build his own version. In an attempt to inspire his junior doctors, Sacha has arranged for a 2,000 year old Egyptian mummy to be scanned at Holby. But his plan backfires, when, under pressure from Guy to get Zosia interested in surgery, she expresses more interest in the mummy. Left with no choice, Sacha forces her into theatre, where her lack of dedication and skill nearly proves fatal. After three weeks, Jac is still unable to bond with her baby. Sick of her lack of maternal instinct, her paediatric consultant takes a stern approach, making Jac realise just how beautiful motherhood can be.
As Sacha continues to put Zosia, Arthur and Dominic through a punishing teaching schedule, Arthur begins to feel resentful of his new teacher. Dominic, meanwhile, would like nothing better than to take Arthur down a peg or two and impress Sacha in the process. When the two are assigned to the same case, the competition heats up. But when things take a turn for the worse, which young doctor will triumph? Serena is furious when she is sent to cover AAU, but a patient presents her with a business opportunity which may help Serena prove her worth to Guy. With her eye on the prize, will she heed Harry's warning that this particular patient is not all he seems? As Jac moves forward with her plans for Emma, Jonny is determined not to be left behind. With help from a familiar face, will Jonny be able to make his wishes heard?
When Harry witnesses dynamic Raf having a photo-call for a medical journal, Harry is determined to find a specialism. Raf rejects his attempts at joining his resus team, so Harry looks elsewhere. When a bariatric patient arrives Harry seizes his opportunity to shine, but at the expense of a far more severely ailing patient. On the day of baby Emma's christening, Elliot brings Jac the juiciest of cases - a heart condition not seen at Holby City Hospital in over a decade. Jac feels like she has to do it, but Jonny is dismayed that she would risk being late for the service for work reasons. When a patient with an abscess in his rectum refuses to be operated on by a woman, Serena and Zosia are forced to find a male surgeon. There is however only one man available to assist - Guy.
Zosia is excited when Sacha finally gives her the opportunity to prove herself with a psychiatrically vulnerable patient, but her own vulnerabilities are exposed as she struggles to grasp the severity of the case. Harry is frustrated when adoring bariatric patient Annie returns and does his best - however shoddily - to deter her, but it does not prove as easy as he had hoped. When Jac tells Jonny that her pay cheque dictates she has the right to make decisions about Emma, he resolves to get a promotion by exposing her as a bully.
It is Jonny's first day as the clinical nursing manager on Darwin. However, he is struggling to juggle all of his new duties. With Jac breathing down his neck, he is forced to assert his authority and use his new skills to help save the life of a vulnerable patient. Zosia, still reeling after the disastrous consequences of last week's surgery, has a new-found bond with her father. When Catherine O'Malley, a top transplant surgeon, arrives and Guy suggests Zosia assist her, Zosia can't help but feel Guy has an ulterior motive. It looks like Harry has gotten away with his reckless actions from last week. Rather than own up to his mistakes, Harry is busy making last minute holiday plans. However, Raf has other ideas for him.
Beth is still in a coma and Guy is determined to try and boost the Tressler Neurosurgical Foundation's profile. Dominic is determined to prove himself after showing up late for work.
Jess gets ready to undergo surgery as Ric finds it hard to step back as a doctor and let Serena deal with the case. Guy is feeling under pressure following the withdrawal of the Tressler fund.
uy is pulled up before the board after Zosia backs a patient's complaint against him. However, Guy is more worried about protecting Zosia's career than his own, especially when tensions mount and Zosia begins to crumble. The last person Zosia wants help from is her father, yet Guy is the only one who can give her the answers she so desperately craves. Are either of them ready to handle to truth? Ric's in deep trouble after covering for his daughter by claiming responsibility for David's accident. Ric is prepared to deal with the consequences of his actions, but when David plays a dastardly hand, is Jess as willing? Ric is pushed to his limits. A new consultant pharmacist called Amy catches Harry's eye but they soon clash over the best way to treat a patient. Jac refuses to play happy families but after events spiral out of control during the hen party, Jonny decides that enough is enough.
Jonny and Bonnie's wedding day arrives but he still has lots of things to do before he's ready to get married. Zosia finds it hard to cope on the anniversary of her mother's death. Serena becomes obsessed with the new patient satisfaction surveys as she attempts to impress Connie.
Harry is agitated to learn that Raf's wife Amy is the new consultant pharmacist on AAU, but is intrigued to discover that their marriage may not be as perfect as it seems.
Raf and Amy are set to discover whether their final round of IVF has been successful. However, Raf soon gets consumed in a diverting case - a patient who has been technically dead for several hours but whom Raf believes is a candidate for a Lazarus-like resuscitation. Torn between his wife's emotional needs and cutting-edge medicine, Raf's priorities are tested and his marriage buckles beneath the strain.
The custody battle goes on as Jac plays dirty twisting Jonny's words and setting her lawyer against him. Arthur attempts to impress Guy and new anaesthetist Jesse.

Elliot hasn't been feeling himself and keeps forgetting important things.

While dealing with the consequences of recent events, Amy is caught in the middle of Raf and Harry's fractious personality clash. Guy offers to transfer Harry, but Amy decides to deal with him herself. Mo enjoys her celebrity status as Doctor Mo while being dismissive of Adele's career aspirations. Chastised by Adele for forgetting her mother's birthday, Mo has to reassess her priorities. And when a star-struck patient turns violent, she also has to acknowledge Adele's professional know-how. Guy informs Zosia that she has scored only 22 per cent for her bedside manner in a recent assessment. She needs to address her lack of patient empathy but has trouble with a patient who refuses pain relief. Jesse helps her raise her game.

Elliot faces his fears about his brain surgery and decides to proceed despite complications, but his future at Holby may be in jeopardy along with his health. Raf resolves not to let what happened between Amy and Harry destroy his marriage. However, when he's asked to help advance Harry's career, he struggles with a painful decision. A disgruntled Herzig patient claims Elliot has been negligent. Jac effectively neutralises the problem, but in doing so has she protected his interests or helped undermine his position
Arthur struggles to keep Zosia in line when she gets emotionally involved with a patient. It is the end of term and Zosia drowns her sorrows with disastrous consequences. Raf's brother arrives on AAU and soon realises all is not well with Raf and Amy's marriage. When he is rushed into surgery, it is Harry who spots a potentially life-threatening complication. Relieved his brother has pulled through and taking his advice to heart, Raf realises the importance of family. Jac rejects Guy's offer of a promotion at Elliot's expense. But when she is teamed with former colleague, Connie Beauchamp, on a complex procedure, she comes to a momentous decision.
Mo feels the pressure of running Darwin as Zosia causes concern with her constant partying. Serena's mother takes a turn for the worse and she finds herself being confronted about it from all sides.

As news of Jac's new appointment as head of cardiothoracics spreads, Elliot is gracious in defeat. But Jac, with a further twist of the knife, tells Elliot that he will no longer be in charge of the Herzig. Faced with the fact his Darwin daughter has stolen his life's work - can Elliot forgive her? Sacha and Essie are thoroughly loved-up and Dominic is pleased to benefit from Sacha's happy mood on the ward. However, the benefits are short-lived when Essie realises Sacha may be moving too fast. When a patient appears to recognise her from the papers, Essie is forced to consider whether she has really dealt with her past and is ready to face the future. Fletch assures Colette his new laissez-faire management style will be a breath of a fresh air on AAU after her jobsworth ways. Colette remains to be convinced that Fletch is taking the job seriously, and suspects he may have hired a new nurse for how she looks on the surface rather than her qualifications. Will the new addition to AAU be able to charm Colette as well as Fletch?
As Holby prepares for a big charity gala, Guy tasks Arthur with making sure an old patient of his gets the full VIP treatment on Keller, but when Zosia forms a close bond with the gentleman and pushes for a decidedly unconventional approach, Arthur is left scrambling in her wake. Arthur begins to wonder if Zosia is really coping. Jac is determined to make her mark on Darwin and when Mr T brings a special case to her attention, Jac throws herself wholeheartedly into the fray. As the rest of the team get caught up in the excitement of the high-stakes case, Jonny is the only one who questions what's really driving Jac's determination to bury herself in her work. When Billy Tressler arrives on AAU to observe Harry at work, Raf struggles not to let the Tressler family get under his skin.
Amy and Raf's conflicting feelings about the unborn child collide when they discover the sex of the baby. Still smarting from Jac's betrayal, Elliot takes on a patient's case against Jac's explicit instructions. Sacha's determination to make Essie happy forces her to make a brave decision.
