Season 5 of the beloved comedy "Modern Family" premiered in September 2013. The first episode of the sitcom ("Suddenly, Last Summer") gave credit to the newly adopted Californian gay marriage laws, and set the tone for the entire fifth season. This year Mitch Pritchett and his faithful partner Cam are finally getting engaged (of course, not without some hiccups), plan the perfect wedding and by the end of the season should, hopefully, get married — but will they? Nothing is set in cement with this bunch, so surprises will be abound. Mitch's adopted daughter, Lily, is growing bigger and taking a larger (and funnier) part in their life adventures, while teenagers Manny and Luke are getting busier, turning from naive and innocent boys into scheming adolescents with cranky voices. The illustrious patriarch of this enthusiastic family Jay Pritchett continues on his quest of keeping up with his beautiful and outgoing Colombian wife Gloria, who has challenges of her own, overcoming them with her usual flare and wit. The ever stoic workaholic Claire Dunphy has her hands full with two teenage daughters Haley and Alex, who is now also dating, plus the childish husband Phil, who discovers his Australian heritage and brings the entire family "down under" on a tour, fulfilling his late mother's last wish. A celebration of family values and quirky, inconvenient comedy are the things that we love about this series, and season 5 gives us a lot of fun, unforgettable moments.
