My Brilliant Friend
My Brilliant Friend tells the story of Elena Greco, a now-elderly woman who discovers the most important friend in her life, Raffaella "Lila" Cerullo, seems to have disappeared with a trace. A writer, immersed in a house full of books, Greco turns on her computer and starts writing the story of their tempestuous friendship, starting from the point when Elena met Lila their first year of primary school in 1950.
Set in a dangerous and fascinating Naples, their story goes on to cover more than 60 years of their lives as she tries to describe the mystery of Lila, Elena's brilliant friend and — in a way — her best friend, and worst enemy.

The events of the second chapter tell exactly where the first season ended. Lila and Elena are sixteen years old, and they have come to a standstill. Lila had just married, but taking her husband's surname, she had the impression that she had lost herself. Elena is now a model student, but just at the time of her friend’s wedding banquet, she realized that she was in trouble in the neighborhood. During a vacation in Ischia, two friends meet Nino Sarratore, a longtime childhood friend who has now become a student of great expectations. It would seem that an accidental collision will forever change the nature of their connection, projecting them into two completely different worlds. Lila becomes an experienced salesperson in the elegant shoe store of the influential Solara family in central Naples; Elena, however, is stubbornly continuing her studies and is ready to leave to study at the University of Pisa. The events of a brilliant friend dragged us into the very vital youth of two girls in the sixties.Read more »
