Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson is brought in from the London Metropolitan Police to help catch the killer when a murder in Belfast remains unsolved. As Gibson travels across from London, we are introduced to the murderer himself; Paul Spector.
The Belfast police lead an investigation of an architect Alice Monroe. A month afterwards the case keeps still on the deadlock. So Jim Burns applies to his colleague detective Stella Gibson for help. At the same time we see Paul Spector who is known by his colleagues and neighbors only from the positive side. Nobody has the slightest idea that this respected psychotherapist, a husband and a father of two little kids terrorizes Belfast. Paul stalks Sarah Key, pries into her house and steals her underwear. Sarah calls the police but they persuade her to move somewhere else, but she doesnâ€™t want to leave. Meanwhile Stella sees the connection between the murder of Alice and another girl Fiona Gallaher. The events of season 2 continue to develop in Belfast. Experienced professional detective Stella Gibson went to the city to search a serial killer, which choked the girls in their own homes. Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan) is a crazy man. He suffers with a serious mental disorder. He has twisted fantasy. He considers himself a God and thinks he can decide who has the right to live and who must die. One of the Paul's victims survived. Stella try to learn from the unfortunate girl, saw she the killer's face or not? But the girl cannot move away from the shock, so Stella remains without evidence again. Spector learned that the girl was survive and wrote a letter to the Fund. Now he visits her as a psychologist. A girl named Rose met with Spector. One day, she told Stella that the Paul choked her. That's why they broke up. Stella encourages Rose to cooperate with her to prevent the next murders. But Paul learned about it and kidnapped Rose. Now Stella feels guilty and is looking for a girl.
