The Sopranos, writer-producer-director David Chase's extraordinary television series, is nominally an urban gangster drama, but its true impact strikes closer to home: Like 1999's other screen touchstone, American Beauty, the HBO series chronicles a dysfunctional, suburban American family in bold relief. And for protagonist Tony Soprano, there's the added complexity posed by heading twin families, his collegial mob clan and his own, nouveau riche brood.
The TV series "The Sopranos" starts from the scene where Tony Soprano is consulting with the shrink. He started therapy with Dr. Melfi after suffering with the faint and a panic attack. Second season starts from the moment Richie has been released of the prison. He is the brother of former mob leader. Richie became an uncontrollable in the Tony's gang and also he started dating with Janice. Janice is a Tony's sister who has come to visit her mother. In the middle of the season we will see an attempt on the life of Christopher. Christopher is an nephew of Tony and a new generation of Soprano's family. Tony with his close friend Pussy will look an assassins who has shot Christopher. The problem is that Pussy is an FBI informant. As a result Tony will have to solve two problems at once with Pussy and Richie. A real family drama occurs when Janice kills Richie and Tony have to clean up after her. Ambitious gangster Ralph takes the place of the murdered Richie. He has returned from Miami and start a relationship with widow former boss - Rosalie. Ralph wants to get the capo position in the Richie's team and start to earn a big money on the civil construction for the Sopranos family. But Tony decides that the head of the team will be Gigi and thereby causing Ralph's rage. The son of Rosalie, Jackie begins met with the daughter of Tony. But the drug problems and the desire for fast money makes Jackie try to rob an illegal card game which leads to a series of murders. Ralph takes the decision about the fate of Jackie and decides to kill him. Family problems lead to the fact that Tony gets a new mistress with which he meets at the psychiatrist office. Tony shares with Dr. Melfi about the problems in the relationship with his wife. Shrink consultation have some success and part of the Tony's problems manages to solve. Tony's team leader Ralph Cifaretto is fond of racing. Together they buy a racehorse Pie-OH-My for making a bet on her and even they win several times huge money. Ralph receives a family matter when his son Justin became an invalid after accidentally stabs himself in the eye while playing with a bow and arrow. For a long time Ralph can't find a place and seems feeling guilty that he left his child unattended. For getting insurance payment Ralph sets fire to the barn. Tony and Carmela decide to divorce. The solution is given them a hard time, but they went for it for a long time. Tony moved to the former home of his mother with his son. Communication of Tony and Dr. Jennifer Melfi gradually develops into mutual sympathy. At this time Tony's cousin Anthony Blundetto has been released from prison. Anthony wants to come back at crime business as soon as possible. But Tony does not like his decision. Tony gives an advice to Cousin to open a massage parlor. But the desire to earn easy money returns Blundetto to the criminal world. Blundetto becomes an assassin and is taking orders for competitors from New York. Uncle Junior suffers from health problems and needs constant supervision. One evening as a result of an attack of amnesia uncle shoots Tony. Several series show a critical situation in the hospital. After Dr. Melfi recognize the impossibility of treating criminals by traditional methods Tony decide to terminate therapy with a psychologist. The war with the New York moves to a new level. Several close friends had died at the shootout. To solve the problem Tony goes on compromises. Tony's family problems are improving and he is put up with Carmela and returns home. Final episodes show Tony's desire to improve relations with his uncle and sister. Series finale can undoubtedly be called the most provocative at television history.Read more »
