Those Who Kill
Based on the Danish TV crime series inspired by bestselling author Elsebeth Egholm, "Those Who Kill" stars Chloë Sevigny as Catherine Jensen, a brilliant police detective who tracks down serial killers. Jensen is also investigating her stepfather, who may be a serial killer, while searching for her missing brother. She enlists the help of Thomas Schaffer (James D’Arcy), a forensic psychiatrist, to help her understand the minds of serial killers, all the while luring Schaffer into her own personal investigation. Both characters possess a deep psychological understanding that connects them to the killers' victims and to the killers themselves.
The action of â€œThose Who Killâ€ Season 1 is set in the cold climate of Copenhagen, Denmark. Thatâ€™s the exact place where the girl in question lives and works. Sheâ€™s young, strong, promising â€“ and thatâ€™s even not the complete list of her positive qualities. Her nameâ€™s Catherine Jensen and she has great work responsibilities because she is the head of the department connected to the criminal cases investigation.
The career choice Catherine made actually wasnâ€™t at all accidental. She was deeply mentally wounded in her childhood by the constant abuse from her step-father, which later resulted in her decision to become a police investigator. Having grown up she sees catching criminals the only career option. As a total result Catherine puts her health and life at stake in her fight with the criminal world on a regular daily basis. Her ultimate aim is to put all the baddies to prison and she considers it worthy of risking her life almost all the time.
But she isnâ€™t alone in her fight for the perfect world. Her sheâ€™s accompanied by Stieg Melbek, the investigator, and Thomas Schaeffer, the psychologist. Although the latter is sometimes overreacting and trying to act outside his field when he actually shouldnâ€™t, basically the three of them make up an outstanding team and cope with everything that comes their way perfectly well.
