Those Who Kill
Based on the Danish TV crime series inspired by bestselling author Elsebeth Egholm, "Those Who Kill" stars Chloë Sevigny as Catherine Jensen, a brilliant police detective who tracks down serial killers. Jensen is also investigating her stepfather, who may be a serial killer, while searching for her missing brother. She enlists the help of Thomas Schaffer (James D’Arcy), a forensic psychiatrist, to help her understand the minds of serial killers, all the while luring Schaffer into her own personal investigation. Both characters possess a deep psychological understanding that connects them to the killers' victims and to the killers themselves.
The action of “Those Who Kill†Season 1 is set in the cold climate of Copenhagen, Denmark. That’s the exact place where the girl in question lives and works. She’s young, strong, promising – and that’s even not the complete list of her positive qualities. Her name’s Catherine Jensen and she has great work responsibilities because she is the head of the department connected to the criminal cases investigation.
The career choice Catherine made actually wasn’t at all accidental. She was deeply mentally wounded in her childhood by the constant abuse from her step-father, which later resulted in her decision to become a police investigator. Having grown up she sees catching criminals the only career option. As a total result Catherine puts her health and life at stake in her fight with the criminal world on a regular daily basis. Her ultimate aim is to put all the baddies to prison and she considers it worthy of risking her life almost all the time.
But she isn’t alone in her fight for the perfect world. Her she’s accompanied by Stieg Melbek, the investigator, and Thomas Schaeffer, the psychologist. Although the latter is sometimes overreacting and trying to act outside his field when he actually shouldn’t, basically the three of them make up an outstanding team and cope with everything that comes their way perfectly well.
