An anthology series in which police investigations unearth the personal and professional secrets of those involved, both within and outside the law.
For the admirers of the detective genre, True Detective brings modern sophistication and artistic cinematography to the silver screen. The storyline revolves around detectives Martin Hart and his colleague Rust Cohle, who are both involved in the 17-year investigation of a cycle of murders in Louisiana. The series is being developed in the anthology format, which means that each season will have its own unique plot and cast. In its first season the intrigue and suspense are palpable, as the lives of two heroes become intertwined with their investigative work on the tough case. In the true origins of the detective genre — think Agatha Christie, not Mission Impossible — we are witnessing deep psychological transformation and deductive work by detectives, as they break through the brunches of past mistakes and omissions. Not a remake of "NSIS" or "Law and Order", but a new format of criminal investigative storytelling emerges as the series unfolds. The unlikely paired partners, where one is a simple and down-to-earth police professional and the other is highly intellectual but a cynical and unhappy person, create interesting dynamics and great TV. A very dark but competently managed, this captivating new series provides hours of entertaining delights.Read more »
