England in the 1520s is a heartbeat from disaster. If the King dies without a male heir, the country could be destroyed by civil war. Henry VIII wants to annul his marriage of twenty years and marry Anne Boleyn. The Pope and most of Europe oppose him. Into this impass steps Thomas Cromwell: a wholly original man, a charmer, and a bully, both idealist and opportunist, astute in reading people, and implacable in his ambition. But Henry is volatile: one day tender, one day murderous. Cromwell helps him break the opposition, but what will be the price of his triumph?

These mini-series represent an adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s novels “Wolf Hall” and “Bring up the Bodies” about Thomas Cromwell. The episodes show us the times when the king Henry VIII ruled the British Empire. Reign of Henry VIII was one of the most memorable in the history of England. The sovereign’s fortune, who changed six wives and distinguished himself as one with an unstable psyche doesn’t leave filmmakers indifferent to this very day. Nevertheless in his adaption of historical events Peter Cosminsky made a protagonist not just Henry VIII bit his main assistant and counselor Thomas Cromwell. Under the influence of this powerful and ambitious man all the laws were issued and all the important affaires were managed. Make a journey back in times of religious wars, cabals, takes-over and intrigues. You will certainly be impressed by miscellaneous plot twists, wonderful live action and lavish costumes of the Henry VIII’s age.
